hey Buf I hope this will help but i aint a comp specialist. I have seen ya in RS loads of times, has it started to mpunt you just frequently?? I have similar problems when initially joining the server, i get punted then have to rejoin and all goes okay. If it has started happening have you added something to your computer that slows it down (dunno if that would affect you) becasue in DF2 if you have a few progs running that take up BW then you may get probs?? Do you rejoin and stay in server after initial punt for high pings if so same as me. Andy |

Buffy, Justin U both have problems due to a shitty work done by your provider. Buf, ur pings goes high on a connection between ur provider and link to UK. It might be temp. probs in UK, but most likely it's ur provider fault. Change it ASAP. Justin.. Is it AOL, lol? Coz if it is, same answer goes for u |

@ justin the time out means it doesnt get the answer when talking (digital stuff) to the next server. surprising that you still managed to get all the way through with a time out and then some results, in mine usually a timout means the connection has failed at that specific point?? andy @ egoz agree totally with ya mate on AOL thats why i changed to BT lol |

This is normal for the Be* network when doing a traceroute - You may also sometimes see the bebox exhibit the high ping responses too when tracerouting. This only affects a traceroute and does not affect any further pings in the trace route or download rate through that hop. Performing a normal ping to the hop will result in normal ping responses. This is due to a configuration telling the routing equipment on that hop to respond to traceroute pings as low priority so it can perform its more critical routing functions. Morc |

Hello all, here is the reply from the server company The ones which are having connection issues, can you ask them to run the following tests please. Ping / Packet loss issues can occur anywhere between your home computer and the server we provide. Many of the nodes (hops) your data will pass through are not controlled by us, these include your ISP and higher level data carriers. We do our very best to ensure our machines and network to the internet has superb performance, but naturally once the information passes from us to the wider internet, we have no control over the performance of the other parties involved in carrying your data. In order to try and determine the point at which your data is being affected, you will need to run a network trace to our server. Please complete the following instructions: Windows XP Users - Download WinMTR - - Unzip the file and run the WinMTR.exe file inside it - Set the host as your server's IP address and hit 'Start' - Continue to play with this running the in background for at least 20 minutes - When you have finished, stop the trace and export the results to TEXT Windows Vista Users - Download and install PingPlotter from - - Set the 'Trace Delay' to 1 and '# of times to trace' to Unlimited - Set the 'Address to Trace' as your server's IP address click 'Trace' - Continue to play with this running the in background for at least 20 minutes - When you have finished, stop the trace and go to Edit - Copy as Text - Reply to this ticket and paste the results into your reply Please note that it will only help if you run this during a period where you experience ping issues. If you do not, then the results will be meaningless and we wont be able to help. |
