Desktop icons disappear then reappear !!

If someone could help I would greatly appreciate it.

My desktop icons appear for about 3-4 seconds then they disappear 4-7 seconds.
The only thing I see is my cursor from my mouse and the background picture.
No right click or left click allowed.
I can access all my computer components through Task Manager.
I have rebooted my puter in Safe mode and the problem is still there.
I have updated all security stuff while in safe mode, and still no desktop.
I have relaunched the computer back to Normal mode, and the problem is still there.

There are a possibility of an explorer crash???
I have learned that the problem may be in the registry..... dont know.

Has any of you had this problem, if so.....how do I fix it.

Oh god, doesnt sound too good, I had a programme awhile ago called Tune Up Utilites... that used to check registeys for errors and things like that... thats all i know im afraid ive had them disapear from closin a programme... but they never do it often. Good Luck fixing it.

It turned out it was a virus caught by trying to get a generating key.....shouldve known.
Re-format, and re-install everything.......
